Raspberry Pi at the age of 8, 2GB model “at the price of 8 years ago”

The UK’s Raspberry Pi Foundation announced that it would cut the 2GB version of Raspberry Pi 4 Model B RAM, which had been sold for $45 so far, to $35. The price cut was made on February 29 (local time) in commemoration of the 8th anniversary of the Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi has sold more than 30 million units so far. In terms of performance, the current model released in 2019 has increased the performance by 40 times the processing speed, 8 times the memory, 10 times the I/O bandwidth, and 4 times the graphics resolution than the initial model. Considering that $35 is the same price as it was eight years ago, that’s great.

Taking inflation into account, $35 in 2012 is $40 today. Also, apart from the price cut, the price of the 1GB version remains at $35. Related information can be found here .
