Google announced on June 22 (local time) that it has added an image search fact-check label.
The fact check label has already been introduced in Google search and news, but the one introduced in image search uses this structure. When you search for an image on Google, you’ll see a fact-check label beneath the thumbnail image, but you’ll only see results from independent and trusted sources, not all images.
Also, like Google search and news, Google is not involved in the fact check itself, but the claim of the original information site is posted as it is. Therefore, the image on which the fact check label is displayed includes an outline and a link to the web page. Images are easy to spread to social media. It is also highly likely to spread fake information without knowing it. If you’re sharing a picture of an unclear source, you can also check it out through image search in advance.
