HTC announced the first major update of its virtual reality collaboration tool, VIVE Sync, on June 23 (local time).
Vibe Sync is a tool that allows you to hold meetings as if you were actually face-to-face using avatars in a virtual reality space. It has been offered as an open beta since the end of April with the increase in telecommuting due to Corona 19 infection.
Until now, all participants had to wear virtual reality headsets, but this update solved this. Even people who don’t wear virtual reality headsets can join the meeting. Participants who do not wear virtual reality headsets do not have avatars, so their names are listed on the display board. Even in non-virtual reality, it is possible to take audio or screenshots and record meetings. However, even if you participate in a non-virtual reality state, you need a virtual reality-compatible PC. In addition, casual clothing options such as jeans have been added to the avatars to reflect each office.
Vibe Sync is bundled with the VIVE XR Suite, which is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2020. In addition to Vive Sync, five virtual reality apps are bundled, including VIVE Campus, a virtual office, and VIVE Sessions for lectures. Vibe XR Suite will be divided into a free version with limited functionality and a paid version for businesses. Related information can be found here .
