At the dawn of November 20, Tesla’s mobile app suddenly became unusable, causing Tesla owners around the world to lose access to electric vehicles. Of course, it is said that the key card could be used normally.
At first, it seemed to be a US problem, but soon after, a domestic Tesla owner contacted CEO Elon Musk on Twitter, and he replied that it was being checked. It was discovered that this was a global-scale defect, as tweets from Tesla owners from Asia and Europe forcing them to change their schedule or calling for a loading service abounded.
The problem is said to have occurred because some features had implementation problems when Tesla implemented an app update. As Elon Musk revealed that the cause has yet to be identified, it is not known whether the actual cause of the defect was a problem with the implementation of some features at the time of the update. However, the situation has since recovered, and it is said that by noon on the 20th, it almost returned to normal.
Not limited to Tesla, cars now have internet connectivity and depend on smartphone apps and cloud services. However, to say that it depends on the network is unavoidable to cause problems like this one if it goes down. In the end, the app is convenient, but at the same time, it is safe to carry a key card and remote control key at all times. Related information can be found here.
