Only 2% of Russians bought Bitcoin?

A survey found that only 2% of people in Russia have actually invested in Bitcoin so far.

Bitcoin is unpopular in Russia, according to a survey published by the Russian Center for Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM). Two out of three Russians said they considered cryptocurrency investments a bad investment, and 56% of the surveyed. Said they knew bitcoin, but 18% said they had never heard of bitcoin, and 12% of respondents who knew bitcoin said bitcoin was banned in Russia.

The Russian government has not officially implemented cryptocurrency-related laws until now, but in May 2018, cryptocurrency-related legislation passed the first reading by the National Assembly. However, because important concepts such as mining in the second half of the year were not considered, the bill went back to the first reading stage. In February of this year, President Putin announced that the government should adjust regulations related to cryptocurrency by July 1st. In March, the House of Representatives of the Russian Federation adopted a plan to enact a new law.

Meanwhile, according to a poll in Russia, 9% of them are known to have detailed knowledge of Bitcoin, and they are male, under the age of 25, highly educated people, and most of them are residents of two cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Related information can be found here .
