IKEA, smart home market in earnest

IKEA has entered the smart home market in earnest. August 18 (local time) announced the establishment of IKEA Home smart, a business unit specialized for smart home.

According to IKEA, Home Smart is the largest business unit since it was founded in 2012 in the children’s furniture segment. Of course, IKEA has been releasing smart lighting TRÅDFRI, smart phone wireless charging tabletop, and Sonos joint smart speaker since 2012 in the smart home field. In addition, while developing its own smart lighting platform, the name of the app was changed from Trodfree to IKEA Home Smart in June.

IKEA plans to significantly strengthen its investment in smart homes by establishing a dedicated business unit. It plans to promote the digitalization of IKEA products in connection with other sectors.
