Google is testing Nest Hub UI in retirement housing complex

Google is offering 1,000 Nest Hub Max units to residents of communities in seven Washington districts, run by Merrill Gardens, a retirement home. In addition, simple UI tests that can be easily installed and used by those who are not familiar with such devices are being conducted.

The device it provides is loaded with contact candidates and a new What can you do card is added. It functions like a shortcut, such as displaying the weather forecast, setting an alarm, listening to relaxing music, and more.

It is also a device that protects residents, runs in logout mode, no voice is recorded, and all activities are anonymous. Users with some knowledge can manage their own activities, but it will be disabled by default for unfamiliar seniors.

This simple UI can only be used by Merrill Gardens residents, but Google says that even if it is not the same, a new UI will be provided in more places for similar purposes. Related information can be found here .
