Collecting samples for corona 19 infection testing, now robots…

Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials has developed a robot that allows doctors to remotely collect samples for patient examination. Even if you are wearing a mask, face guard, protective clothing and gloves, taking a test sample from a patient suspected of having COVID-19 infection can cause anxiety to medical personnel.

This robot is fixed by attaching a chin and forehead to a pedestal, and a small robot arm equipped with a camera and a cotton swab is placed in the front of the face, like an instrument used for eye examination in ophthalmology. In another room, a doctor can use a joystick controller to view camera images and manipulate a robotic arm to place a cotton swab in the patient’s nose or mouth, and move it back and forth, left and right to collect a sample.

The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials hopes that this technology will help to screen for diseases such as Corona 19, which is at high risk of infection, because samples can be collected without direct contact with patients. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
