Uber’s acquisition of Post Mate ranks second in US food delivery…

Uber Technologies has announced the acquisition of Postmates, a food delivery service company, for $2.65 billion.

Uber and PostMate reached a final agreement on the acquisition, and a majority of PostMate shareholders expressed their support for the acquisition. The acquisition will be completed in the first quarter of 2021 after shareholder approval and regulatory approval.

In the U.S. food delivery market, the first place is Doordash, the second place is Grubhub, and the third place is Uber Eats operated by Uber Technologies. Uber Technologies is hitting both dispatch and food delivery due to Corona 19, and although Uber Eats and Grub Hub aimed to merge, it was pointed out that the merger between the 2nd and 3rd in the industry was a violation of the antitrust law, and eventually the merger negotiations in June 2020 Stopped. Grubhub was then acquired by Just Eat Takeaway, a food delivery service company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for $7.3 billion.

On the other hand, Postmate is the fourth largest market share in the U.S. and Uberitz will rise to the second place in the United States, overtaking Grub Hub through this acquisition. The food delivery service industry has undergone great restructuring in the United States and around the world. For example, Rama (餓了麼), a food delivery service affiliated with Alibaba, the world’s largest online market company headquartered in China, acquired Waimai, operated by China’s largest search engine Baidu. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
