Amazon opens Europe’s first airport hub

Amazon has officially started operating Europe’s first Amazon Air hub based in Leipzig Halle Airport, Germany. The new facility will introduce two Amazon-branded Boeing 737-800 aircraft on an area of 20,000 square meters. Through this, Amazon’s total number of operating devices has reached more than 70.

According to Amazon, this new hub creates jobs for over 200 people in the Leipzig region. Large regional implementation centers already employ over 1,500 people in the region. Amazon is also explaining that Corona 19 will continue to be in progress in Europe, helping to deliver timely delivery.

Amazon has steadily grown its air freight logistics business since it began expanding its shipping network in 2016. It has hubs in Texas, Puerto Rico and Florida, and plans to expand to San Bernardino International Airport in California and Northern Kentucky International Airport in Cincinnati by 2021.

Amazon added 12 aircraft in June 2020 to respond to the increased demand caused by Corona 19. The addition of a hub in Europe is expected to help expand Amazon’s business, given that the second corona19 epidemic has hit the world, including Europe, and the demand for its services is rapidly increasing.
