Hostage disturbance at Ubisoft’s Montreal office

On November 13 (local time), a riot broke out in Ubisoft’s Montreal office, where police blocked the surrounding streets and surrounded the building.

At first, it was known through social media that a Ubisoft employee took refuge on the roof with information that a hostage incident occurred, but no criminal was found. It seems that this case was triggered by a prank call to the police.

Ubisoft is a large game software company that has released numerous hits including Rayman. It is headquartered in Canada and has development studios in 19 countries around the world. Among them, the Montreal office was established in early 1996. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, released for the PlayStation 5, is also one of the games developed here.

As the studio suddenly became the stage of the incident, local reports also reported that a hostage incident occurred and a ransom request was requested from a criminal inside the building, but the police withdrew in the evening and there were no threats or injuries on the scene. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
