SpaceX’s Starship SN8 prototype, a large rocket and spacecraft, successfully completed its fourth ground-burning test on November 24th. In the near future, an altitude test will be conducted to raise and return the rocket to 15 km above the ground.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk reported the completion of the ground-burning test and added that it is aiming for a 15km altitude test through a tweet.
According to reports, the ground-burning test of the triple raptor engine equipped with the SN8 will be conducted by SpaceX on November 30, and the backup date is scheduled for December 1-2. The Starship SN8 prototype was larger than the existing prototype, and became closer to the final starship appearance, so that the nickname of the flying water tower no longer works.
The final version of Starship is launched via a 50m high rocket called Super Heavy. Both the Starship and Super Heavy rockets are designed to be reusable, and the Raptor engines fueled by liquid methane and liquid oxygen will carry six in the Starship and 30 in the Super Heavy.
In addition, SpaceX has already begun building SN10 and SN11, and SN12 has announced that the main tank consisting of four sections will be assembled and will become the final starship. But first, you can expect the SN8 to fly up to a height of 15km without any problems and land on the ground landing pad. Related information can be found here .
