Virtuix is launching the Omni One, a home walking virtual reality device, in the second half of 2021. The price is $1,995.
Recently, in virtual reality, devices supporting 6DoF have become mainstream. You can freely roam the virtual reality space, but you are limited by the actual room size. If you play in a confined place, you may hit a desk or drop something.
The walking-type virtual reality device is drawing attention as solving this problem. It is because it can realize a 360-degree walking or running motion without moving on the spot. OmniOne aims to make it compact in size so that it can be placed in ordinary households. In addition, it can also detect jumping and crouching in addition to movements such as walking or running functionally.
The package includes all necessary items, including a virtual reality headset, and does not require a PC connection. The app is collaborating with third-party developers, and it is said that there will be over 30 games ready for release. However, to play the title online, you’ll need a $55 monthly subscription plan in addition to the $1,995 base price.
The developer also has a $955 development kit available. However, a virtual reality headset is not included here, and a separate PC connection is also required. It is said that the space in which this product can be used is about 1.2m in diameter and 2m in diameter considering the distance to reach. Related information can be found here .
