On April 21 (local time), Google announced that it would enable automatic subtitles to appear in Chrome browsers in Chromebooks. It will be open on most ChromeOS devices in the next few weeks.
The Chrome browser automatic subtitle function was introduced in the desktop version in March and was first introduced in the Pixel 4 released in 2019. It supports services such as YouTube, as well as podcasts, and media that can be used in browsers such as Facebook and Twitter. Basically, it has a function aimed at people with hearing impairments, but it can be helpful in cases where it is difficult to hear the sound due to noisy surroundings, or in situations where there is no earphones and no sound can be produced.
In addition to the automatic subtitles feature, when searching for weather on the launcher or entering calculations, the results are displayed in a pop-up without switching to the web. It also adds a new diagnostic app to check the status of the Chromebook’s battery, CPU, and memory.
Chrome OS was due to the update of the Chrome browser right after the March 10th anniversary update. Related information can be found here.
