Apex Legends surge 50% of esports viewers in North America

Apex Legends, a popular battle royale shooting game that started its own e-sports league in 2020, is using Twitch to provide benefits such as game items to viewers.

Developer Respawn Entertainment announced that the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Winter Circuit North American Playoff Competition has become the franchise’s most participated event. According to the company, at the end of March, the average number of views per minute increased by more than 50%, and Apex gamers who watched more than 100,000 people received items through Twitter drop every hour. It is said that the provided items included a dedicated tracker, badge, banner, and legendary hologram for a limited time.

In this competition, the spectator mode provided a free camera to track the progress of the game, and the top players allowed their own streaming in conjunction with the competition. This effort was effective from the viewer’s point of view.

The championship is divided into five regions and is scheduled to start on May 22nd or 23rd at the priority group stage. In the group stage, 40 teams each from North America and Europe, Middle East Africa, and 30 teams from Asia-Pacific and South and South America each participate. Each team is divided into groups of 10 to compete, and 20 teams advance to the regional finals. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
