Microsoft announces end of Azure blockchain service

Azure Blockchain Service, which enables the building of a blockchain network on Microsoft’s cloud service Azure, has announced that it will end its service on September 10, 2021.

Blockchain crypto assets support things like Bitcoin, but many technology vendors and users believe that blockchain has more uses. Blockchain is a technology that can store not only cryptographic assets, but also the entire transaction history of all kinds of information, so some companies, including banks and financial institutions, are showing interest in blockchain.

In 2015, Microsoft partnered with ConsenSys to announce its own blockchain service, Ethereum Blockchain as a Service (EBaaS). This is the beginning of Azure blockchain service. Subsequently, at the end of January 2016, it became possible to test blockchain construction at DevTest Labs, and it was possible to separate blockchain-related services and partner blockchain technology from the virtual machine.

The short-term goal of blockchain services on Azure was to make all certified blockchain marketplaces available. Microsoft’s goal was not only to support a limited number of blockchain partners, but to make Azure blockchain services available to all partners.

Since then, Microsoft has released a preview version of Azure Blockchain Services to simplify the deployment of blockchain services in 2019. Microsoft Azure blockchain service customers include GE, JPMorgan, Singapore Airlines, Starbucks, and Xbox.

It is an announcement that the Azure blockchain service will be terminated on September 10, 2021. Users can switch to an alternative, and the recommended target is ConsenSys Quorum, a ConsenSys blockchain service. Consensys founder Joseph Rubin said he is pleased to be able to bring Quorum to Azure users as the next step in the Microsoft collaboration.

In addition, the existing distribution is supported until the end of the service, but as of May 10th, support for new placement or member creation is discontinued. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
