Music streaming company Spotify allows users of Storytel, an audiobook subscription service, to connect their accounts to Spotify to listen to audiobooks on the Spotify platform.
Storytel is a service that allows you to listen to more than 500,000 audiobooks at a flat rate, which is serviced in 25 countries around the world. Currently, users can listen to audiobooks in a dedicated app. However, when the link is activated, audiobooks can be played among Spotify apps, and the Storytel app is virtually unnecessary.
This alliance is one of the examples of using the open access platform OAP that Spotify announced along with its podcast subscription plan. OAP allows creators and publishers to use the Spotify login system and link the platform to provide content. Spotify said that audiobooks are just one format of audio that uses OAP, and the possibilities of audio are endless and show a willingness to integrate with various other audio services.
