Microsoft launches Xbox Cloud games on iPhone

Microsoft has announced the official launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming within the next few weeks in Safari, the web browser used on iPhones and iPads. It was previously announced that it would be open to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a service that allows games to be moved to a cloud server rather than played on a smartphone or PC, and the results are streamed and played to gamers. Its attractive point is the simplicity of being able to play many titles provided with the Xbox Game Pass, a flat-rate game service, without installing and downloading new applications.

This service is provided in some regions as an application for Android, but on the iPhone or iPad, Apple requires that each game be downloaded for user safety reasons, so Microsoft prefers to use a web browser rather than filling the home screen with game icons. I was working on a solution that I used.

It already started testing on iPhone and PC in April of this year, but it has officially started. In addition to Safari, it also supports Edge and Chrome, allowing gamers to enjoy the game if they have a device that runs these browsers. In addition, Microsoft is preparing to enjoy Xbox Cloud gaming on smart TVs in cooperation with TV manufacturers around the world. Here it is revealed that no additional hardware is required other than the controller via the browser.

It also announced that it would develop its own streaming device for cloud games. It is thought that any TV or monitor suggests stick products plugged into HDMI terminals such as Chromecast and Fire TV sticks, and this is also what Phil Spencer, who oversees the Xbox business, foretold with cheaper hardware.

Xbox Cloud Gaming will start this year in Brazil and Mexico. What we said in the coming weeks is for regions that already offer Xbox Cloud Gaming. Related information can be found here.
