600 billion won worth of crypto assets stolen due to hacking

When Poly Network, a platform that provides cross-chain technology for direct exchange of other crypto assets, was hacked, crypto assets worth $611 million, including Ethereum and Binance Coin, were leaked.

On August 10, 2021, the Polynetwork was hacked, tweeted, and the stolen crypto asset remittance was disclosed. It also urged affected crypto-asset miners and exchanges to blacklist tokens coming from those addresses. As a result, it is said that Tether, which handles USDT, has blacklisted USDT issued with stolen $33 million worth of Ethereum. It was also reported that the user who informed the hacker of being on the USDT blacklist received 13.37 ETH in return.

According to the report, it is estimated that $273 million worth of Ethereum, $253 million worth of Binance Coin, and $85 million worth of USD coins were stolen as a result of the hack.

Polynetwork said preliminary investigations revealed that hackers were exploiting contract call vulnerabilities. Blockchain security firm SlowMist reported that it was tracking hackers email addresses and IP addresses. According to this, the original funds held by the hackers were Monero, which were exchanged for BNB and ETH on the next exchange, and this hack is highly likely to be an organized long-term plan attack.
