Xbox games can be enjoyed on older devices thanks to the cloud

Microsoft hosted Gamescom 2021 online on August 25th. Here, Microsoft announced that the streaming game service, Xbox Cloud Gaming, will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S within the year.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a technology that allows users to enjoy games running on Azure cloud servers by streaming them as images. It is to deliver the game live and to control it using a controller. If you provide a network environment, you can enjoy a flat-rate service without worrying about the time or storage capacity that was previously required for download and installation.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a cloud gaming service provided by Ultimate, the top plan of Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service for PCs released by Microsoft. In Xbox Cloud Gaming, more than 100 titles such as Forza Horizon 4 and Minecraft Dungeon in the Xbox Game Pass library can be played at up to 1080p and 60fps through the cloud function.

The announcement is that Xbox Cloud Gaming will also support Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One for the 2021 holiday season. Up to now, downloading and installing such as the Xbox Series X was essential, but it requires time and storage space for download and installation in response to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Titles that correspond to Xbox Cloud Gaming will have a cloud icon in the Xbox Game Pass library and a Play button to the left of the Install button. If you choose to play, you can play the game directly through the cloud function. With this, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Medium, which could not be installed and played on the Xbox One right now, will be able to be enjoyed on the Xbox One through the Xbox Cloud Gaming Cloud function.

In other words, the company that sells game consoles announced that they would be able to enjoy the same game on the cloud, even though the delay and picture quality are slightly lower than that of the native, without forcing themselves to buy the latest model. In fact, for several years, Microsoft has continued a strategy of not restricting its contents and services to its own game consoles, such as actively providing new games not only to game consoles and PCs, but also to third-party platforms in some cases.

In addition, cloud gaming has already made it possible to enjoy games through cloud games on browsers such as iPhones, iPads, and Android smartphones and tablets. Related information can be found here.
