Quiet with fanless… 11″ FHD Linux Laptop

The StarLite Mk IV is an entry-level Linux laptop introduced by StarLabs, a maker of Linux laptops.

This product is an 11-inch laptop with an Intel Pentium Silver N5030 processor with a maximum operating clock of 3.1GHz, 8GB of RAM, and a maximum of 960GB of SSD. By adopting a low-power CPU, fanless specifications are realized, and fan noise does not come out at all.

The non-glare display has a resolution of 1920×1080 FHD. The webcam placed above the display has been significantly upgraded to 2 megapixels from the Starlight Mk III 480p that appeared in 2020. It also supports Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Elementary OS, Linux Mint, Manjaro, MX Linux, and Zorin OS. You can choose between Aptio V or Coreboot. If you choose Corebot, you can easily configure settings such as changing the TDP or disabling clock gating using the settings (coreboot-configurator).

SSDs that support over-provisioning support sequential read speeds of up to 560MB/sec and sequential write speeds of 540MB/sec. The interface adopts a reversible design and is equipped with a microSD card reader, USB 3.0 type A terminal, 3.5mm earphone jack, and power terminal on the right side. On the left, there is a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a micro HDMI port, and a USB 3.0 Type-A port. Individual parts can also be ordered, and disassembly guides are also available.

It costs £400 and ships from January 2022. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
