Meta’s free augmented reality filter app

Polar is a free augmented reality processing app for iOS introduced by Facebook, which has changed its name to Meta. Although Facebook has focused on virtual reality or augmented reality, such as introducing the virtual reality headset Oculus, it has previously unveiled Spark AR, an AR effect, and Spark AR Studio, an AR content creation software.

This time, Polaris released Spark AR as an iOS app. In the app, you can use AR filters or effects to process make-up or bat effects on a person’s face, and post them on the web or share them with friends.

A lot of face processing functions using augmented reality are available in apps. According to Facebook, the purpose of introducing Polar is to provide creators such as Instagram with an AR tool that is lightweight and easy to use.

Spark AR plans to start a closed beta program from the second half of this year. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
