Google introduces ability to find pet art works

Google has added Pet Portraits, a feature that automatically finds images of animals and similar art pieces, including pets, to the Google Arts & Culture app, where you can learn about artists and art products.

Pet Portraits can be found in all fields, from ancient Egyptian figurines, Mexican street art, and Chinese watercolors, to art similar to animal images. Matched artwork is displayed as a percentage of fit and can be tapped to access more details.

Inside Fat Portrait, a computer vision algorithm recognizes the pet’s location and crops the image. After that, the machine learning algorithm finds a match in the art works of partner companies. The app can also share matching images on social media or create GIF images from multiple images.

The Google Arts & Culture app is free for iOS and Android. If you can find works of art using the same subject matter as domestic pets, it may have meaning, at least among family members. In 2018, Google also launched the Art Selfie feature, which finds artworks similar to self-images, through this app. It is said that this feature has already been used 120 million times. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
