Balcony covered with Chinese plants… Like a jungle in mosquito attack

Urban construction with plants so that you can feel nature even in the city is being done all over the world. A green apartment building was built on a balcony in 2018 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. However, it is said that only 10 of the 826 apartments have moved in due to a large number of mosquitoes caused by balcony plants. The whole apartment is becoming an urban jungle rather than an urban forest.

Under the concept of a green city center, the apartment built in 2018 advocated a vertical forest. Eight high-rise apartments are clustered together and the balconies are all green waves. According to a local expert, 826 units of apartment rooms have been sold by April 2020. However, on September 9, 2020, the balcony plants caused a large number of mosquitoes, so only 10 actually moved into the apartment.

The photos taken in 2020 are more lush than in 2018, reminiscent of a jungle. Of course, in May 2020, through the YouTube channel of the People’s Daily, life was published under the name of Wonderful “vertical forest “residential community in Chengdu.”

The concept of a vertical forest was proposed by architect Stefano Boeri. He also plans to build a vertical forest in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, but the apartment in Chengdu is not part of his project and is inspired by Boeri. Boeri built the first vertical forest concept in Milan in 2014.

In addition to the vertical forest concept, Boeri is also constructing LIUZHOU FOREST CITY, where the entire city building is covered with plants and trees, in cooperation with Liuzhou City, China. Related information can be found here.
