Uber Eats has announced that it is now possible to order favorite cannabis through an app in Ontario, Canada.
In Canada, recreational cannabis was legalized in 2018. In 2019, the manufacture and sale of processed products containing hemp ingredients were also legalized. In Ontario, hemp products can be sold online and at authorized retailers. This legalization of cannabis aims, for example, to prevent the flow of money from the cannabis market to criminal organizations.
Then, from November 22 (local time), using the Uber Eats app, you can purchase cannabis products at Tokyo Smoke, a retail store in Ontario. There is no driver delivery yet, only pick-up at the store is available. You will also be required to present identification proving that you are 19 years of age or older at the store.
Even in Canada, where cannabis is legal, more than 40% of sales are handled by illegal markets, according to Uber Eats and Tokyo Smoke. The start of the sale of cannabis products through this app is expected to further revitalize the cannabis market. Related information can be found here.
