“The need to replace blockchain-related equipment by 2021”

Market research firm Gartner said that 90% of the blockchain technologies used by companies need to be replaced within 18 months by 2021 to maintain competitiveness, safety, and prevent obsolescence.

Gartner predicts that multiplatformization will progress and fragmentation of the blockchain industry will progress over the next five years, and that from now to 2024, a single blockchain technology platform is not expected to be the dominant.

Gartner said that the current blockchain platform market is often used redundantly or complementarily, and consists of segmented system services, which means that the technology implemented by some companies is at risk of becoming outdated or unstable until 2021.

He also pointed out that blockchain technology companies often use marketing messages that are not tied to the use cases or business benefits of their target customers. Customers are still confused about how the functions of the blockchain technology are performed or what the advantages of the blockchain technology are compared to existing system services.

Gartner points out that many CIOs tend to have unrealistic expectations when evaluating blockchain enterprise products, as many CIOs overestimate blockchain capabilities and short-term benefits as technologies that help achieve business goals. This can be the biggest headache because corporate IT departments need to determine which blockchain technology is best for their business. In addition, while the development of integration standards and standards for the target market is in progress, it is predicted that the multiplatformization of the number of participating companies will progress, and fragmentation of the blockchain industry will proceed over the next five years. As a result, it is said that by 2024, a single blockchain technology platform will not be superior. Related information can be found here .
