British 50-pound bill is Alan Turing

Alan Turing, a mathematician and father of artificial intelligence, faces a new 50-pound bill from the UK. Turing is known to have decrypted Anigma, a cryptographic machine that served as a powerful weapon for the Germans in World War II.

The Bank of England chose Alan Turing as a great mathematician, father of computer science and artificial intelligence who made a big impact on the lives of humans today. “Alan Turing’s work is innovative and multifaceted.” Along with Alan Turing’s great work, the press release also mentions the respect for diversity in modern Britain, based on the official apology of the British government in 2000 for his charges of same-sex abuse.
