1200 horsepower EV supercar produced by only 25 units

Drako GTE is an EV supercar introduced by electric car startup Drako Motos. This supercar is driven directly by four motors and produces a torque of 6,500ft/Ib, that is, 900kgf·m and an output of 1,200 horsepower.

Draco Motors is an EV startup founded by Dean Draco, founder of Barrabuda Networks, a network security company, and Shiv Sikand, founder of IC Manage, a big data analytics software. The Draco GTE announced here took 10 years to develop. It is not a concept car or a prototype vehicle, but a fully functional car.

The body design was designed by Lowie Vermeersch, who played for Ferrari, Maserati and Pininfarina. The overall silhouette is similar to that of Fisker Karma, but the chassis structure of Drago GTE is made by borrowing the structure of Karma.

The top speed of this supercar is 330 km/h. The peak output of 1,200 horsepower is, of course, not the best in the history of commercial vehicles. The Bugatti Chiron has a barely 1,479 horsepower and reaches 400 km/h. However, it is undeniable that the zeroback can show considerable instantaneous power with a direct drive method with motors placed on each of the four wheels. Of course, the manufacturer’s official figures have not yet been released.

On the one hand, the concern may be the range. The battery capacity of the Draco GTE is 90kWh, but the range after charging has not been disclosed. Considering that four motors can put a heavy burden on the battery, it may be difficult to travel long distances if you are an aggressive driver. However, it is said to support rapid charging through a 150kW DC charging system.

Draco Motors is expected to begin mass production of GTE soon and deliver it in 2020. However, only 25 Draco GTEs will be produced, and the price will be $1,25 million. Considering that a car like the Tesla Roadster costs $200,000, it’s quite expensive. Nevertheless, it can be said that simple price comparison is difficult as customers who purchase this supercar are pursuing scarcity, special, and luxury rather than those like Tesla.
