Velocity announced by flight taxi “commercialized in 2023”

Volocopter has announced the commercial flight taxi, VoloCity. This is an urban-style flight taxi that is provided on demand, and all passengers can carry their luggage together. The top speed is 110 km/h and the estimated flight distance is 35 km. It looks like a helicopter wrapped around 18 rotors.

The velocity is 18 rotors, which can reduce the risk even if a failure occurs due to overlapping. In addition to the redundant rotor, the rotor itself is small and quiet. The first commercial model is a big step in the flight taxi industry. However, before Velocopter delivers Unit 1, the dedicated take-off and landing infrastructure must be maintained and air traffic control system integration procedures must be completed.

Velocopter has conducted flight experiments with aircraft in Dubai and Las Vegas so far. Flight tests will be conducted in Singapore this year.
