Netflix ships 5 billionth disk

Netflix is a familiar place for video streaming services, but it is a company that has expanded its business by offering a DVD rental service by mail through its original website. However, this time it was announced that Netflix has shipped the 5 billionth disk. It is also said that the name of this 5 billionth disk to be commemorated was Rocketman.

Netflix is still offering disc delivery rental services 21 years after the service was launched. However, it is true that this scale is shrinking significantly, from 14 million in 2011 to 2.4 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, Netflix is generating $46 million per quarter in 2019 from the service.

Of course, the next milestone, 6 billion, is said to take nearly 35 years, even if subscribers rent monthly. In other words, realizing the next milestone can be said to be difficult. Nevertheless, it is quite interesting that the business based on optical discs is still alive. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
