The US state of Michigan banned delicious e-cigarettes for the first time in the US on September 5. Governor Gretchen Whitmer stressed that young people’s vaping, or e-cigarette smoke inhalation, has reached a public health emergency. The top priority is to keep children safe and healthy.
Delicious e-cigarettes are popular with young Americans for their sweet taste such as fruit and candy. But Michigan argues that this has the potential to lower nicotine rejection and pose health risks. Products that produce mint and menthol flavored vapors as well as sweet scents are banned. E-cigarettes with the original taste of cigarettes are excluded from the ban.
Michigan’s action will take effect within the next 30 days, and will allow six months after the six-month interim period. During this time, the state authorities will set up a ban on delicious e-cigarettes. Foreign media point out the possibility that if delicious e-cigarettes are banned, a black market will eventually form. There is also a warning that it is possible to return tens of thousands of people to smokers again.
However, there are reports of research showing that even e-cigarettes can inhale vapors and cause numerous health problems. Some argue that there is an increased potential risk for the respiratory, immune system, blood pressure, and heart. It could be a serious problem for young people who are still in the physical development stage.
In the United States, TV cigarette advertising was banned in 1971. However, it is pointed out that e-cigarette brands such as Joule are implementing a marketing strategy to plant a fashionable image targeting young people with little resistance by taking advantage of the fact that this regulation is not covered. Michigan is the first state to ban delicious e-cigarettes.
