Daimler, which owns Mercedes-Benz, and Bosch, an auto parts company, have teamed up to develop a function that allows automatic valet parking.
Valet parking is usually carried out in a separate area that is not crowded by a person who receives the key when going to a hotel or shopping mall. The same goes for the self-parking feature developed by Daimler and Bosch. As you can see from the video, it was shown in the parking lot of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. The driver can park the car in a specific place, and the rest can be solved by operating the app. The car automatically moves to the parking lot and ends the parking. When you call it again, the car will take you to the first stop. This feature combines automatic driving and automatic parking and is said to be the first in the world to have Level 4 vehicle certification for this purpose.
As you can see from the video, if something pops up in front of you, it stops automatically and drives while detecting the corners. According to Daimler, with automatic parking, parking spaces can be reduced by 20% per vehicle because there is no need to secure space for people to get on and off in the parking space.
