Research is being conducted that can detect early signs of dementia as well as protect users’ health, such as being able to detect signs of heart disease using an Apple Watch.
According to reports, Apple is already partnering with pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and healthcare startup Evidation for the study. It is investigating whether related detection is possible based on the data collected by the iPhone and Apple Watch.
According to the data reported so far, 31 people with cognitive impairments and 82 people with non-cognitive impairments were monitored for 12 weeks, and it was possible to distinguish between those with early symptoms of cognitive impairment and healthy individuals. It is said that this can be distinguished by slower typing speed, less frequency, or more times of using support apps.
Of course, such research is currently in progress. In fact, there’s no guarantee that the Apple Watch can be used to detect early signs of dementia. However, as the aging process is rapidly progressing in advanced countries, it is expected to be an attractive function if implemented in practice. Related information can be found here .
