In the city center of Villeneuve-le-Roi, which is adjacent to Paris Orly Airport, a system was installed to identify the location through multiple microphones and issue a violation ticket by specifying the vehicle making noise along with surveillance camera images.
A bill allowing the use of the system, called Noise Radar, is expected to begin as soon as it is approved in the fall vote. Noise is aimed at combating noise pollution because it can cause violence and health problems in modern life.
The noise radar developed by Bruitparif uses a triangulation method using four microphones installed on streetlights to identify the source of noise and identify vehicles that make noise by combining CCTV images installed by the police. The movement of the loud noise is output as a color dot trajectory and an image. You will be issued a ticket indicating this together.
The system has been tested for two years, installed in 40 places around Paris nightlife bars and major buildings in the city center. In September, it will be installed in two places in the center of Paris. However, as this system is only undergoing technical testing, it has not been released yet. The data obtained here will be used to determine the noise level to be fined.
France already has laws regulating noise such as automobiles. However, this is not strictly enforced, as you may not rely on the police to solve problems on the spot. Related information can be found here .
