From December 9 (local time), Daimler began a demonstration experiment of a vehicle sharing service using an autonomous vehicle in San Jose, California, USA.
This experiment is jointly conducted by Daimler and Bosch, an automobile equipment manufacturer. A car-sharing shuttle service is provided between the San Jose city center and the west Carlos district using an autonomous vehicle developed based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The two companies have been jointly developing autonomous driving technology. On July 23, the two companies were also approved by the government for the first time in the world for a fully automated parking function that can fully automate all tasks in a specific location. In this vehicle sharing service demonstration experiment, not only Level 4 but also Level 5, it is expected that information necessary for fully autonomous driving will be obtained.
