Microsoft unveiled the next-generation game console, the Xbox Series X, during the game event The Game Award 2019.
The unveiled appearance is a simple matte black square pillar shape that looks like a mini-tower PC with an exhaust port above the vertical state. Inside, AMD ZEN2 RDNA architecture is adopted, and the processing power is said to be 4 times faster than the existing game console, Xbox OneX. It is explained that it is equipped with a 2nd-generation SSD that supports 4K 60 frames or up to 120 frames, 8K ray tracing hardware acceleration and almost no loading time.
Compatibility with existing products supports many of the last 3G titles following the Xbox One, and peripheral devices such as controllers and accessories maintain compatibility with the Xbox One generation. It offers a new Xbox wireless controller. It looks almost unchanged, but the size is a little smaller and the number of dedicated share buttons has increased. The D-pad has also changed a little. The new controller is currently available on Xbox One or Windows PC.
Microsoft has been introducing the next generation of Xbox under the codename Project Scarlett. This is the first time that the body exterior and the official product brand have been revealed. In the past few years, Microsoft has not been exclusively on Xbox One, but has been promoting Project xCloud to enjoy Xbox games as a cloud game anywhere on the Windows 10 platform, smartphone, or tablet. I have been using my strength.
However, Microsoft said that the core of its Xbox games continues to be on a dedicated game machine, and while providing game services regardless of device, the nature of Xbox will be in Series X.
As for performance, it is still an ambiguous expression, but it is said that the CPU is 4 times the previous generation, the GPU is 8 times the existing Xbox One, and twice the Xbox One X. Unique features introduced only by name are ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), DLI (Dynamic Latency Input), and graphic-related patent technology (Variable Rate Shading), which will increase latency, so response speed.
The title of the game, Halo Infinite, the latest in the Halo series, has already been announced, and this time, a video of Senua’s Saga (Hellblade 2) has been released for the Series X demo. Related information can be found here .
