BMW also had Android Auto

BMW announced on December 11 (local time) that it will install Android Auto on its vehicles from July 2020. Accordingly, it can be used with Apple CarPlay in BMW vehicles.

According to BMW, the first demo of Android Auto will take place during CES 2020. Since then, it will be provided as an update to drivers in 20 countries as a vehicle with BMW OS 7.0. Android Auto supports wireless connection.

Just two years ago, BMW said it was not interested in supporting Android Auto. At the time, BMW executives said they were sticking to their original app to take full control of the vehicle interface. Accordingly, he was not interested in adopting Android Auto.

But with Android Auto, Google Assistant makes it easier to navigate, keeps you in touch with friends, and keeps you productive. BMW pointed out the importance of being able to use Android Auto in vehicles as well as BMW-specific features and services for many customers. This is because you can safely use familiar Android features without distracting you from driving.

Accordingly, BMW has been supporting Alexa and Cortana and the BMW Assistant, which has been independently built with Microsoft’s AI stack, and finally supported the Google Assistant. BMW is voicing to support all commonly used digital assistant functions. To support the Google Assistant, at least for now, Android Auto has to be used.

BMW will integrate Android Auto into the car’s digital cockpit as well as the BMW Info Display and a head-up display for direction indication. Google said it is looking forward to providing Android Auto to BMW customers around the world next year in cooperation with BMW. With seamless support for BMW vehicles on Android smartphones, users will be able to start driving in the car while safely attracting access to their favorite apps or services.
