The French competition watchdog announced on Dec. 20 (local time) that Google would be fined 150 million euros.
According to the agency, the target of fines is the advertisement service displayed on the page when searching for Google or the like. A French IT company that was serving an advertisement received a report that it had stopped posting advertisements without an ego, and as a result of an investigation, they found an advertisement that had not been paid for publication according to the publication rules. The agency imposed a sanction on Google’s opaque ad serving rules and unclear advertisers’ account suspension terms.
In Europe, since the establishment of the GDPR, criticism of IT companies such as Google is increasing. Google continues to face a difficult situation, with a fine of 50 million euros by French authorities in January for violations of the GDPR and of 1.49 billion euros by the European Commission for antitrust violations in March. Google has also objected to the fine, but the headwind may not stop at least for a while. Related information can be found here .
