Messenger registration is not possible without a Facebook account

It turns out that Facebook has removed the ability to register for messengers without a Facebook account.

It was announced quietly at the official help center, but foreign media contacted the company to confirm the fact. In June 2015, Facebook made it possible to create a messenger account without a Facebook account. When signing up, simply enter your name and phone number, and you can use it as a universal service beyond the Facebook platform.

However, as an answer to the FAQ about whether you can register for messenger without a Facebook account, you need to create a Facebook account to use Messenger. Facebook says that most users who want to use messenger are already logged in to Facebook, explaining that it is a measure to simplify the process.

If so, what will happen to people who are already using messenger without a Facebook account? Facebook explains that it doesn’t need anything. However, when I try to log in after migration, I keep getting a message that my account is restricted, and there have been reports of complaints that I can’t log in.

In early 2019, there were reports that Facebook was considering ways to integrate its messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp messaging services so that they can send and receive messages with each other without switching applications. Some analysts say that this specification change is part of a plan to integrate all affiliated services into the Facebook platform. Related information can be found here .
