Turkey has long relied on foreign vehicles. It was because it didn’t own the automobile industry. But this kind of history came to an end. Turkish companies consortium Türkiye’ninOtomobiliGirişimGrubu (TOGG) announced the first domestic-made SUV as the first domestic vehicle in cooperation with Italian Pininfarina. Turkish President Erdogan also expressed his expectations for the country’s first electric car, saying it is a historical event that realizes Turkey’s dream.
Turkey’s first car can run 200 horsepower and a range of 300 km. Of course, if you need long-distance driving, you can choose an upper model that can run 400 horsepower and a range of 480 km with dual motors. TOGG says it can charge 80% in 30 minutes after preparing a 150kW charger. In addition, the vehicle has a level 2 semi-automatic driving function called Slow Traffic Pilot, and it is said that it can be upgraded to level 3 or higher in the future.
The interior equipment is also neat, and the passenger seat uses an infotainment system through a display, and has a digitalization system including a holographic support function to reduce the driver’s gaze movement. In addition, the software has always-on communication function so that it can be updated by OTA method.
The TOGG electric SUV is expected to launch in 2022, but the manufacturer has yet to say how much the vehicle will cost. However, considering that it has such performance and equipment, it is expected to be a relatively expensive class vehicle.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the average annual salary in Turkey is about $4,576. In terms of Hanwha, it is about 5.28 million won. Also, considering the supply of charging infrastructure, the number of people who can purchase this vehicle in 2022 is expected to be quite limited. There is also a sedan with a TOGG concept. In the case of this vehicle, it seems that it will be able to gain momentum from its supply if it is a price that the common people can buy. Related information can be found here .
