Apple TV Plus, an Apple video streaming service, has signed a five-year contract with HBO Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler.
This contract includes a feature film from a TV series. It includes productions such as documentaries. Flepler produces content through New York-based Eden Productions. According to reports, this contract is not about mass-producing Apple TV Plus content, but focusing on producing high-profile works. Fleppler says that Apple is one of the most creative companies in the world and is an excellent environment for its next chapter and new production.
HBO has been making hits like Game of Thrones, Six Fit Under, and Soprano for 28 years as Fleppler played. Of course, this kind of work was not necessarily completed by Flepler alone. However, the long experience of the media industry and the networking through it can be expected to contribute to an attractive project that will attract Apple TV Plus users.
There is no guarantee that Fleppler will make a hit, but at least the five-year contract with a person in charge of a production company that has made a lot of popular works will have the effect of appealing to the industry that Apple’s long-term strategy can be trusted.
