Google Cloud Game Service Adds Over 120 Games

Google announced plans to significantly increase the number of games supported by Stadia, a cloud game service launched in November 2019. Specifically, there are more than 120, and it is said that more than 10 games exclusively for Stadia will appear only in the first half of 2020.

Stadia is a cloud game service that allows users to enjoy regardless of display such as laptops, smartphones, TVs, and monitors as long as they have an Internet environment. You can do it only with a dedicated controller in your hand and a video streaming terminal, Chromecast Ultra. All game-related processing, not the game console, is performed in the cloud and only video is streamed.

It was expected to be a dream-like service that can be enjoyed anywhere without a console, if there is only a display that can show video, but when the service started in November 2019, there were 26 supported games, of which only one for Stadia was Gilt.

Google is making efforts, such as acquiring Typhoon Studios to increase support devices through improvements to Chromecast Ultra or to strengthen Stadia Games and Entertainment for exclusive title development. Thanks to these efforts, the number of supported games will increase to 120 at once in 2020. Exclusive titles are also expected to increase by more than 10 in the first half of this year. Although the specific title was not disclosed, it is said that Orcs Must Die 3 will be released exclusively in the spring of 2020.

Also, in terms of functions, 4K games are supported on the web and web wireless games through Stadia controllers are expected to be implemented within 3 months. There are many game developers who are uneasy about continuous service, but it seems that Google is planning to develop Stadia as a platform under a long-term vision.
