KFC expands artificial chicken trial sales

On January 29 (local time), KFC announced a test sale of Beyond Fried Chicken, a fried chicken using artificial meat, in Nashville, Tennessee, USA and Charlotte, North Carolina.

This menu uses artificial vegetable meat made by Beyond Meat. It is divided into two types of chicken menu, and the texture is almost unchanged from that of the actual chicken, and it is said that when the chicken is torn by hand, the fiber is carefully reproduced. In addition to the original Kentucky Fried Chicken, the taste is BBQ and peppered.

This is the second test sale for this menu. The first test sales took place on August 27 of last year at some stores in Atlanta, Georgia. At this time, it became so popular that it sold out in 5 hours. As a result, KFC selected Nashville and Charlotte by expanding the test range. The test will take place at 100 stores in Nashville and Charlotte, and will run from February 3-23.

Providing non-overlooked and vegetarian-friendly dishes is no longer a must for restaurants. Burger King, a large fast food chain, offers hamburgers using artificial vegetable beef, but if this test is successful, it is expected that products using artificial vegetable chicken meat can be officially sold.
