Uber “14 million services per week in India in 2019”

Uber announced that it provided 14 million rides per week in 2019 in India, a major overseas market. Such information was revealed in the quarterly earnings report released on February 6.

Uber serves many countries and regions, but among them, it leads the industry with over 50% of the market share. In comparison, Uber revealed that in 2018, India had 11 million rides per week. Competitor Ola said in a blog in 2018 that its platform supports more than 2 million movements per day.

Ola declined to disclose the updated figures, but is highlighting the company as India’s largest mobility platform. It emphasized that as India’s largest mobility platform, it serves more than 200 million customers through a network of 2.5 million drivers of all vehicles, including two-wheeled, three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

In January, Uber sold its food delivery business, Uberit’s India, to rival Zomato, for $180 million. Therefore, it seems that it will focus more on dispatch service here. Uber is currently providing services in 200 locations, but plans to increase it by 50 by the end of the year, and says that these areas will focus on motorcycles and tricycles. While Uber started expanding the Indian market, Ola said it would start service in London on February 10 (local time). Related information can be found here .
