Firefighter robot is coming

Colossus is a robot made by Shark Robotic. It has excellent heat resistance and water resistance, and is equipped with a caterpillar, so it is a robot firefighter that can spray water up to 250m in front of a hose located in the rear while traveling to and from a roadless area.

From the video of this robot, you can see that it is possible to perform various firefighting activities, such as discharging, as well as going to places like stairs using a caterpillar, and spraying water in a fan shape or in a straight line.

The Colossus can also be operated remotely using a smartphone or tablet running iOS and Android. It can transmit and receive signals from a distance of 300m. It is equipped with sensors that can detect real-time video as well as information that firefighters want, such as site temperature, harmful chemicals, biological materials, radiation and nuclear materials. Thanks to this, it can be used not only in fires, but also in terror sites such as gas spraying or nuclear accident sites. Once charged, it operates for 10-12 hours continuously, and it is said to be able to withstand 8 hours in the field of fire.

Colossus was active even during a large fire that occurred during the renovation of Notre Dame Cathedral, a world heritage site in Paris. In a 856-year-old church, fire fighting was difficult, and it was difficult for manpower alone. At that time, about 400 firefighters gathered at the site, but if the spire collapsed, it could damage them. Colossus was put in here. In fact, it is said that the Colossus worked inside the church.
