Near the Roccamonfina volcano in northern Campania, Italy, there is a fossil of footprints left in the sediments of pyrotechnics called Ciampate del Diavolo. Detailed analysis of these footprints revealed that some of the footprints were not fleeing from the erupted volcano, but were heading to the top right after the eruption.
Rocamonpina Volcano was active from 650,000 to 50,000 years ago. It is now classified as a private volcano. The footprints left in the pyroclastic sediments when the Rokamonfina volcano erupted are the footprints of the devil.
In the 21st century, an investigation into the footprints of the devil was conducted, and the dating of the rock layers confirmed that the footprints of the devil were made 350,000 years ago. Except for Africa, it is said to be the oldest fossil human footprint after the remains of the footprints in Haysboro, England.
According to an Italian research team, the total number of footprints discovered by a recent survey has risen to 81. The footprint is roughly divided into three points. Analysis of these footprints suggests that the footprints are due to at least five people, and one of them is likely to be an adult male.
Some of the footprints were left at a speed of 1m per second, so I wasn’t in a hurry and I wasn’t in a hurry to see the mountains by eruption. In addition, some of the footprints turned out to have climbed to the top, so it is possible that ancient humans climbed the mountain to see the crater after the explosion. It is believed that ancient humans climbed the mountain several hours after the eruption when the pyroclastic sediments cooled to about 50 degrees Celsius.
Experts say you can often imagine a community living near a mountain erupting clouds of harmful gases and volcanic ash, and that disaster tourism may not have started recently. Also, considering that the oldest fossils of modern humans are 315,000 years old, the footprints of demons left behind by a volcanic eruption 350,000 years ago were made by humans other than modern humans. According to the research team, the shape of the foot recorded in the devil’s footprint is similar to the 430,000-year-old object found in the ruins of Sima de los Huesos in northern Spain.
There are various theories, such as Homo heidelbergensis, Denisova hominin, and Neanderthal, as for the species found in the Shima de los Huesos ruins. The research team decided to withhold from belonging to a specific species, but did not mention which species humans are the owners of the footprint. Related information can be found here .
