Jeff Bezos “to provide $10 billion in climate change funding”

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced plans to provide $10 billion in Bezos Earth Fund funding.

In his presentation on Instagram, he said that climate change is the greatest threat to the planet and that we will work with those who demand new ways and increase the means to communicate about the enormous impact of climate change here. Bezos As Fund aims to support businesses, governments, scientists, activists, and NGOs.

So far, Jeff Bezos and Amazon have not shown a positive attitude toward climate change countermeasures. In April of last year, 3,500 Amazon employees asked Bezos and executives that Amazon should plan and act on climate change. Afterwards, Amazon announced The Climate Pledge, aiming to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from its entire business by 2040.

Today, I’m thrilled to announce I am launching the Bezos Earth Fund.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet. I want to work alongside others both to amplify known ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devastating impact of climate change on this planet we all share. This global initiative will fund scientists, activists, NGOs — any effort that offers a real possibility to help preserve and protect the natural world. We can save Earth. It’s going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation states, global organizations, and individuals. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I’m committing $10 billion to start and will begin issuing grants this summer. Earth is the one thing we all have in common — let’s protect it, together.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ – Jeff

It emphasizes that it is contributing to the annual reduction of 4 million tons of carbon dioxide by purchasing 100,000 electric vehicles for delivery, for example. The electric car is planned to be released by Amazon investing $700 million and procured by Rivian, but delivery of the delivery vehicle could take from 2021 to 2030.

Meanwhile, some point out that Amazon’s prime free shipping service increases delivery trucks, wasteful corrugated cardboard boxes, and increased delivery using bulk buffers to increase air pollution or waste. If any of the delivery trucks are electrified, the impact on the environment will be mitigated to some extent, but it is not known how effective it will be globally.

If a new fund named after Bezos is an opportunity to bring about an effective climate change response, Bezos will be more well-received for climate change than ever. Related information can be found here .

Through the monthly AHC PC and HowPC magazine era, he has watched 'technology age' in online IT media such as ZDNet, electronic newspaper Internet manager, editor of Consumer Journal Ivers, TechHolic publisher, and editor of Venture Square. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
