In Italy, the number of deaths from corona 19 infection exceeded China, the first outbreak area. Naturally, the number of beds is insufficient. In response to such an emergency, it is said that a modular container intensive care unit designed by the architect is being built in Milan.
It is an open source project called CURA (Connected Units for Respiratory Ailments). This means that it is a device for connecting respiratory diseases, but it is intended to be able to simply install the existing transport container into a medical treatment room. It is said that the design was made by not only architects but also international experts such as engineers, doctors, military experts, and NGO staff.
CURA has the advantage of being able to expand as needed. The container size is 2.33×5.867m, and two beds and medical equipment can be installed by adding various power and piping work. It is said to be building at a rapid pace with funding. Related information can be found here .
