Huawei introduces P40 Series SoundX speakers

Huawei announced a new product. Looking at the new products, the first smartphone is the Huawei P40 (HUAWEI P40) series of 3 types. The standard models are the P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+.

The P40 uses the camera in collaboration with Leica as its biggest appeal point. All three models are equipped with excellent camera sensors and combine lenses and AI processing. The P40 supports a 6.1-inch screen, while the other two models support a 6.58-inch screen and a 19.8:9 ratio. It is said that the smooth curve design on all four sides of the top, bottom, left and right is a quad-curve overflow display. In addition, it supports 90Hz high frame rate like competitors.

The main body color of the P40 is black and deep blue, and the other models support only two colors, ceramic black and ceramic white. The pro version ceramic material uses a nano ceramic material that was completed in 5 days, and it is lightweight, but it is scratch-resistant and has a sapphire-like rigidity.

As for the rear main camera, the P40 has three, the P40 Pro has four, and the P40 Pro+ has five. The main wide-angle sensor has 50 million pixels in common for all three types, and the RYYB sensor that was included in the Mate 3 Pro is mounted, allowing you to take brighter pictures than the general RGB sensor.

The P40 Pro is equipped with 4 cameras and supports dual optical zoom. It supports 3x optical step zoom at short distance and 10x at long distance. The hybrid zoom that doesn’t degrade the image quality is 20 times and the maximum magnification is 100 times.

Image processing technology using AI is also aggressively utilized. The P40 series image processing engine uses AI to process images in a state that separates people, backgrounds, and buildings. Using this feature, you can use a feature called HUAWEI Golden Snap, such as erasing only people passing by among the pictures taken by using this function, or by tapping the reflection of the picture taken through the window.

The film movie camera that was supported by the Mate 30 Pro has evolved further with the introduction of pixel fusion technology. Pixel Fusion treats 16 adjacent pixels as one large pixel, enabling video shooting even in dark scenes. Clear video shooting is possible even in a dark environment of 0.5 lux. In the video, the zoom function has been enhanced to include only the sound of the directional audio. The film movie camera is only available on the P40 Pro and Plus models.

As a peripheral device for the camera, you can take pictures of still life and people in a professional lighting environment with a smartphone-linked flash light and speed light through the Huawei CameraKit jointly developed with Swedish flash manufacturer Profoto.

The front camera is equipped with a 32 megapixel sensor as well as an infrared camera and an ambient light sensor to take 4K selfie videos. In addition to unlocking face recognition, the infrared sensor also features scrolling and gestures without touching it.

The chipset is Kirin 990, which also supports 5G and supports eSIM in addition to nanoSIM dual SIM configuration. It is also possible to use dual SIM with nano SIM and nano memory card mounted. It is possible to charge 2,400Mbps with Wi-Fi 6 and 40W with its own standard for wireless charging.

Of course, the P40 series does not support Google Play. Huawei CEO Richard Yu introduced Huawei Mobile Service. EMUI 10.1, an open source Android-based self-contained UI, has added the ability to display 3D photos and notifications at low power even in standby. Also, in multi-window, one screen text can be copied to the other screen. It also announced its own AI assistant function, Celia, which supports English, Spanish, and French, but it is expected to support more languages in the future. In addition, it has also announced MeeTime, a real-time video function such as FaceTime. In addition, Huawei Share (HUAWEI Share), which can be linked with PCs, can also be expanded to connect with SoundX, a smart speaker such as HomePod. The price is 799 euros for the P40, 999 euros for the Pro, and 1,399 euros for the P40 Pro.

Huawei also unveiled the high-end smart speaker, HUAWEI Sound X, at the new product announcement. It features advanced audio level specifications on a cylindrical base body. The biggest feature is that the basic performance of the speaker is good. The frequency characteristic of the bass side is excellent at 40Hz, the maximum output is 144W, and the maximum sound pressure is 93ddB, which is the level of advanced audio. The treble side also responds to 40kHz playback and has a high-resolution audio certification logo.

This product was created in collaboration with DEVIALET, a French high-end active speaker company. The speaker unit consists of 6 full-range types and 2 woofers for bass, arranged in the circumference of the bottom of the middle and high range. Two units were placed on the outside of the woofer, but the push-push method was adopted in which the backs were turned against each other. In addition, the amplifier characteristics also introduced the speaker active matching SAM technology that DeBiale boasts. It is a technology that realizes speaker drive taking into account factors that degrade sound quality such as time difference mismatch, and external extra vibration.

The unit itself is also a Devial speaker specification, with a unit stroke of 20 mm and a voice coil amplitude of 21 mm, with neodymium Nd-Fe-B type magnets. The body size is 165×203mm and the weight is 3.5kg. Related information can be found here .
