Ultra-simple finger tracking VR controller that detects fingers

KUPVR is a finger tracking virtual reality controller using a simple and inexpensive infrared sensor. It is a product that can uniquely identify five fingers.

This product has built-in infrared sensor to detect finger opening and closing, accelerometer and gyroscope to detect wrist movement or rotation. In addition, it supports tactile feedback vibration. In addition, the belt also has an acceleration sensor and a gyroscope built in to detect the position and direction of the hand and vibrate. All of these products can be connected to a smartphone or PC through Bluetooth.

The Oculus Touch controller has buttons for thumb, index finger, and middle finger, so when you press the middle finger, the finger and little finger are also closed at the same time. On the valve’s Index grip, a capacitive sensor detects the movement of five fingers. However, these products have problems such as expensive or bulky design.

In contrast, KUPVR can be purchased at a price of $89 per set, and it is light and reduces fatigue as it does not have to be held at all times like other controllers. The system is open source and compatible with other platforms such as SteamVR, Android, and Unity 3D, and 4 games are also included in the package. This product was raised through crowdfunding site Kickstarter. More information on the product can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
